Thanks Again to the Kansas SCBWI!
In 2012, I was thrilled to be the inaugural recipient of the Clare Vanderpool Work of Promise Scholarship. It was awarded by the Kansas chapter of the Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators, and gives the lucky winner the chance to go for free to the annual KS SCBWI conference in Kansas City. This award was established in honor of Newbery Award winner Clare Vanderpool (a Kansas resident).
Sadly, that year a terrible family emergency kept me at home. But they very kindly asked me back last year, when to my embarrassment I had already made a commitment for the weekend. And then, also very kindly, asked me back again this year . . . so here I am, finally, with the 2013 and 2014 winners!
Thanks again to Clare Vanderpool, Colleen Ryckert Cook, Sue Gallion, Theresa Love, and all the KS SCBWI!

Guest Blogger - Me!
I was invited by author Anne E. Johnson to contribute to her blog. This is very exciting. So I wrote a short essay, "Threads," about how I got the idea to write The Sea at Mughain.
I've read one of Anne's books, Trouble at the Scriptorium, and really enjoyed it. It's a medieval tween mystery.

The Sea at Mughain Republished!
Well, I got annoyed with The Sea at Mughain being out of
print. It was still selling copies here
and there so I thought . . . why not? I
self-published it, under the imprint Dragon Central Publishing, with very
minor changes to the text. It is now
available in print from Amazon, and I am working on Kindle and Nook editions,
which should be ready at some point.
Here’s the new cover!

Sea Change
I am sad to announce that I have decided to take The Sea at Mughain out of print at this time. I am very grateful to all of you who have supported the book, and I hope to have it published again at some point, either on its own or in a collection of my other stories. In the meantime, the remaining print copies will be available for sale at Hero Complex Games and Entertainment in Wichita, KS.
